Company 3 is proud to have been an official sponsor of the Hollyshorts Film Festival for the fifth year in a row. The festival, which celebrates exciting, creative short films, kicked off August 14th. Films were screened at TCL Chinese Theatre from August 14 to August 23. Company 3 took part in several ways, including a color workshop at its Santa Monica location and the sponsorship of five filmmaker awards in the categories: Best Music Video, Best Commercial, Best Director, Best Cinematography and Best in Fest. Recipients, who were named at the closing night party on August 21st at the Roosevelt Hotel Ballroom, divided up a total of $45,000 worth of post services.

The color workshop, offered to directors and cinematographers with work in the fest, provided a rare opportunity to learn about the intricacies of high-end color grading. Senior Colorist Siggy Ferstl, Company 3’s in-house tech guru Director of Digital Workflow Dylan Carter and SVP Feature Services Jackie Lee walked attendees through the artistic possibilities and technical considerations involved in top-level color grading.

The select group of attendees also got to observe Ferstl inside one of the company’s high-end grading theaters as he re-created and explained his creative process on portions of recent indie features Wish I Was Here and The Purge: Anarchy
