Company 3 and EFilm Honor Filmmakers at Sundance 2015

January 24, 2015 Jan. 24, 2015

One of the hottest tickets at the Sundance Film Festival this year was for the Company 3/EFilm filmmakers’ party. The invitation-only event, held on the bustling first Saturday of the festival, filled Park City eatery Zoom to capacity. The celebration was in honor of all the talented artists at the festival and particularly those who entrusted their projects to the host companies.

Company 3 and EFilm are proud to have been a part of so many exciting films this year. Bittersweet comedy Me and Early and the Dying Girl from director Alfonso Gomez-Rejon, colored by Tim Stipan, received an Audience Award and the Grand Jury Prize and was promptly picked up by Fox Searchlight Picture res. Brandon Trost took home the US dramatic Special Jury award for Excellence in Cinematography for his work on 1970s period drama, The Diary of a Teenage Girl, directed by Marielle Heller and colored by Tom Poole. That film was picked up by Sony Pictures Classics. 3 1/2 Minutes, a riveting documentary from director Marc Silver, colored by Greg Fisher, received the US Documentary Special Jury Award for Social Impact and landed a sale to HBO. And IFC grabbed the comedy Sleeping With Other People, directed by Leslye Headland and colored by Damien Van der Cruyssen.

In addition, Kurt Cobain: Montage of Heck — filmmaker Brett Morgen’s riveting portrait of Nirvana’s front man, colored by Shane Harris — premiered to great acclaim at the festival, as did the highly personal comedy/drama Seoul Searching from writer/director Benson Lee, which was colored by Siggy Ferstl; the thriller True Story, from director Rupert Goold colored by Tom Poole; Lila & Eve, director Charles Stone III’s drama starring Jennifer Lopez and Viola Davis colored by Sean Coleman; and the powerful, controversial documentary, Prophet’s Prey, directed by Amy Berg and colored by Andrew Geary.
