Sound Designer, Composer, Mixer

Erich Netherton

Sound Designer and Mixer Erich Netherton has been with Company 3 for more than 20 years, primarily in his native Atlanta. He brings a distinctive talent and refined ear to his work on commercials and features. An accomplished dialogue editor, musician, and Foley artist, Netherton is perfectly positioned to offer not only sound design and mixing, but also a comprehensive audio strategy for every project.

Recent work includes sound design and editorial for National Geographic’s Chasing Shadows: A Search for an Endangered Bird in Fiji. His talent and expertise can also be heard in campaigns for Ford, Kia’s World Cup campaign, Adidas’ collaboration with Tinman Elite, and Wood Milk’s comedic campaign starring Aubrey Plaza.

Netherton received an AAF National Gold ADDY Award for Sound Design and a National Silver ADDY Award for Music Composition for a series of Coca-Cola campaigns created in collaboration with Twitch. Reflecting on the project, he recalls, “The campaign was fascinating because it spanned a wide range of animation styles from different artists, each requiring unique, unusual, and sometimes psychedelic sounds. The animations allowed me to create new sounds from the ground up. I used various sound sources, from Coke bottles to analog synths, and even some instruments I built.”

Originally from Atlanta, Netherton began playing percussion at age 10, laying the foundation for a career that blends musicianship with sound design. While earning his degree at Full Sail University in Florida, he discovered a passion for the creative possibilities of audio post-production. After graduating, he launched his career at POP Sound in Santa Monica before returning to Atlanta, where his ear for the unconventional continues to shape sound for some of advertising’s most ambitious campaigns.
