Based at Company 3 London. Available virtually through any Company 3 Virtual Outpost.

Re-Recording Mixer Jamie Selway has extensive experience working in both London and Los Angeles. Recent work can be heard on a number of TV shows, including Channel 4’s A Woman of Substance, BBC Studios’ Reunion, and Netflix’s Black Mirror. His work has been recognized with an RTS Award for Sound Drama for his work on This Is Going To Hurt (BBC), and he also received a nomination from the same organization for the series Trying.

A London native, Selway studied Music Production at Brighton University and, after graduating, spent time recording and mixing music for bands. Having always had a strong interest in film and TV, he knew he wanted to pivot into that arena. “Working with sound to moving image really grabbed my attention! I hadn’t really seen it as a career path until it was in front of me, but as soon as it was, I haven’t looked back!” He embraces the responsibility of understanding a showrunner’s vision and loves the process of turning that into a mix that expresses their conception.

Always embracing the artistic opportunities afforded by new tools, Selway finds that the expanded audio field enabled by Dolby Atmos offers a very creative way of working, even for shows where Dolby Atmos isn’t actually part of the delivery spec. “I tend to mix natively in Atmos regardless, and then down-mix from there. I find it’s the most precise way of working. Spreading all the sounds out that way helps me think through my approach even for a project that is finishing in 5.1 or stereo.”

During his seven-year stint in LA, Selway was an avid surfer. Today, he pursues his love of water as best as he can in London and can be spotted skulling on the Thames.
