Behind the Color of Stranger Things Season 5
January 21, 2026 Jan. 21, 2026Senior Colorist Skip Kimball has graded every episode of Stranger Things since the series began, shaping its visual language across nearly a decade. For the fifth and final season, Kimball expanded the show’s look with six custom LUTs to define its multiple timelines and worlds, while also preparing the grade for Dolby Vision HDR and theatrical exhibition.
Working from camera raw files in DaVinci Resolve, Kimball maintained consistency across formats, including Alexa LF, RED, Phantom, and Super 8, while also addressing new challenges, such as digitally recreating atmospheric fog with AI-driven tools. The result is a final season that supports both the show’s emotional intensity and its expanded exhibition formats.
