Dominic Phipps has worked successfully in the hybrid role of assist/colorist for Framestore since 2018 and began coloring fulltime at the start of 2022. He has brought his keen eye and attention to detail on major commercials for clients such as online grocery platform Farmdrop, TCL electronics and music videos for leading artists including Pixey (“Electric Dreams”), Easy Life “Nightmares (Live)”, and Alfie Templeman (“Forever isn’t Long Enough”). His work on the campaign for Wrangler Jeans “Long live Cowgirls” won him Gold at the Kinsale Shark Awards 2022 for Best New Grader.
Phipps, who grew up in the Cotswolds region of England, knew he wanted to be a colorist from the age of 15 after seeing firsthand on a secondary school work experience placement, the power that excellent color grading can have in enhancing any project. He started at Framestore as a runner while studying editing and postproduction at Ravensbourne University in London. Through hard work and determination, he quickly moved up to assisting the lead colorists on major projects. Phipps has already built up a highly impressive reel and a growing list of steady clients.
