Coloring a Viral Apocalypse: PostPerspective Talks with Jean Clément Soret
August 7, 2025 Aug. 7, 2025Company 3’s Jean Clément Soret reunited with director Danny Boyle and cinematographer Anthony Dod Mantle, ASC, BSC, DFF, to grade Sony Pictures’ 28 Years Later, the follow-up to their genre-defining film 28 Days Later.
The creative team embraced a bold and unconventional visual style to reflect a world overtaken by chaos. Soret leaned into the rawness of the imagery, pushing green tones, enhancing texture, and amplifying imperfections to support the film’s unsettling tone.
“It wasn’t about making things pretty,” said Soret. “It was about making images feel raw and rough.” Boyle and Dod Mantle also share their perspectives on the process and how color helped define the film’s visual language.
