The EFILM and Company 3 brands were everywhere at this year’s LA Film Festival. The fest, from the organization Film Independent, is a yearly highlight for filmmakers — particularly independent-minded artists with unusual types of stories — to show their work, share ideas and mingle with like-minded talents.

As a sponsor for the festival, the two post houses provided major work to prepare content for the screenings.

As a sponsor of Film Independent’s concurrent, diversity-themed Project Involve program, the companies provided pre-production consultation, color grading and all other finishing services for six short films. Project Involve had helped facilitate based on its goals of nurturing and developing talent from underrepresented communities.

Each of the six teams of filmmakers were given the opportunity to learn about creative and technical facets of color and post from top professionals prior to starting principal photography. Upon completion of their edits, they then had their films graded by one of the renowned colorists at either EFILM or Company 3.

The two facilities also teamed up to sponsor the Filmmakers’ Retreat, in which 65 directors were put up at the Parker Palm Springs Hotel for a night of relaxation, networking and fun. The select group also attended informative sessions, such as a conversation with guest director Rodrigo Garcia (Last Days in the Desert) and a presentation on the importance of color correction.

Audiences at the film festival itself, enjoyed a number of features colored by EFILM and Company 3, including French Dirty (Asa Fox) Seoul Searching (Siggy Ferstl), Diary of a Teenage Girl (Tom Poole) and Infinitely Polar Bear (Sofie Borup).
