Kath Raisch Talks Ponyboi in Latest PostPerspective Colorist Chat

July 29, 2025 Jul. 29, 2025

PostPerspectiverecently profiled Company 3 New York Senior Colorist Kath Raisch, tracing her journey from the darkrooms of Rochester Institute of Technology to becoming a trusted creative partner on feature films, episodic TV, commercials, and music videos.

Known for her instinctual approach and ability to unify creative voices, Kath is often involved in discussions about camera and lens choices before filming even begins. Her work on Ponyboi is a perfect example, where she collaborated closely with the director and DP to craft three distinct looks that flow seamlessly throughout the film.

“The DP and director had three looks in mind that we had to make sure worked cohesively throughout the movie. New Jersey, where the movie takes place, was one character/feeling/vibe.” Kath goes on to say, “For the main character, Ponyboi, we made sure his world had elements of this Jersey grit but with a mix of colorful gels/jewel tones, making sure we maintained good color separation in the grade.”

Beyond Ponyboi, Kath’s credits include The Uninvited, Lilies Not For Me, Barron’s Cove, Eye for an Eye, and the acclaimed film Aftersun. Whether in long-form storytelling or fast-paced commercial work, she approaches every project with the same goal: finding its emotional core and bringing it to life through color.

At Company 3, we’re proud to have Kath on our team and look forward to seeing her continue to elevate stories with her thoughtful and cinematic grading. Ponyboi is currently playing in select theaters nationwide.
