Hosted by actress Tamara Podemski, the ceremony brought together filmmakers and industry leaders to celebrate excellence in Canadian cinema.
Presented annually in partnership with Company 3, the Luminary Award recognizes a Canadian industry figure who has made a significant contribution to the advancement and history of Canadian cinema.

Films We Like Co-Founder Ron Mann
Across a career spanning more than four decades, Mann has been a champion of Canadian and independent film. His documentaries include Imagine the Sound (1981), Poetry in Motion (1982), Comic Book Confidential (1989), and Grass (2000), while his latest film, Clairtone (2025), explores the story of the Canadian record player company. In 2003, he also co-founded the boutique distribution company Films We Like, which supports the release of distinctive international and independent films.
In keeping with the award’s pay-it-forward spirit, Mann selected Jacquelyn Mills, the Montreal-based documentarian behind Geographies of Solitude, to receive $50,000 in post-production services from Company 3.
David Cronenberg’s The Shrouds was also among the nominees for this year’s Rogers Best Canadian Feature. Company 3 provided color and sound finishing on the film, with Senior Colorist Bill Ferwerda grading the feature and Re-Recording Mixers Christian T. Cooke and Mark Zsifkovits delivering the final sound mix.
Congratulations to Ron Mann on this well-deserved honor, and to all of the filmmakers recognized by this year’s TFCA. Learn more about the TFCA Awards Gala winners here.
