Supporting Next-Gen Filmmakers: CO3 + Coca-Cola Refreshing Films

May 24, 2024 May. 24, 2024

Each year, Company 3 partners with Coca‑Cola® Refreshing Films, offering finalists with color post-production services. The Coca‑Cola® Refreshing Films program is a platform that gives up-and-coming filmmakers from partnered schools the opportunity to create content for the big screen through a scripting challenge, inviting students and recent grads to submit their scripts for consideration.

After a rigorous selection process, four finalists were chosen and given a budget to produce and bring their branded spots to life. What sets this program apart is the six-month real-world experience it offers. Technical partners, such as RED and Company 3, mentored the teams and provided students access to a professional camera and an in-studio color session with skilled colorists. This year, students worked with Senior Colorists Bill Ferwerda and Tyler Roth and Colorist Patrick Devine in our studios in Toronto, Los Angeles, and New York.

In the final stages of post-production, students work alongside marketing professionals to finalize their branded spots. Once complete, the spots are hosted online for the world to see. This year’s spots highlight the magic of the movies and incorporate the delicious ritual of warm popcorn and ice-cold, refreshing Coca‑Cola®. Watch the finished spots and behind-the-scenes videos from the finalists below.

Coca-Cola Refreshing Films announced this year’s winners on May 15th. Congratulations to the cast and crew of Signs of Friendship from the BYU School of Communications for receiving the 2024 Grand Prize and The Cinemark Fan Favorite Award, whose film will feature on the big screen at Coca-Cola® partnered theaters. We also want to give a big shout-out to all the finalists for their creativity, determination, and teamwork.
