SXSW: Celebrating Standout Films and Winners

The SXSW Film and TV Festival has ended after a week of premieres, screenings, and speaker sessions showcasing creative and exceptional talent. Notably, Trapped and My Dead Friend Zoe emerged as two standout winning films, receiving wide acclaim.

Directed by Sam Cutler-Kreutz and David Cutler-Kreutz and graded by Senior Colorist Nick MetcalfTrapped received the Special Jury Award in the Short Film Competition. The gripping narrative follows a janitor/father trapped in the aftermath of a prank gone wrong with unexpected twists and turns. Trapped was recognized for its thematic resonance as it masterfully explores the consequences of actions, the weight of responsibility, and the intricate dynamics of socioeconomic disparity and privilege.

Additionally, My Dead Friend Zoe, a touching film helmed by Director Kyle Hausman with grading by Senior Colorist Bryan Smaller, was honored with the Narrative Spotlight Audience Award. This dark comedy-drama explores the intricacies of friendship and family ties as U.S. Army veteran Merit grapples with the lingering memory of her deceased best friend confidante, Zoe, captivating audiences with its heartfelt narrative and outstanding performances.
