Five Company 3 Projects Earn Gotham Film Awards Nominations

The Gotham Film & Media Institute announced the nominations for the 36th Annual Gotham Film Awards today, recognizing outstanding achievements in independent filmmaking. Five projects featuring color by Company 3 artists received a total of six nominations, with additional collaborators set to be honored through special tributes at this year’s ceremony on November 30 in New York City.

James Gray’s Paper Tiger received two nominations, including Best Feature and Outstanding Supporting Performance for Adam Driver. The film features cinematography by Joaquin Baca-Asay and color by Senior Colorist Tim Masick.

Masick also graded Is God Is, which earned Aleshea Harris a Breakthrough Director nomination. The film was shot by Alexander Dynan.

Also returning this year after a six-year hiatus is the Gotham Audience Award, recognizing films that have connected with audiences and made a lasting cultural impact. Three Company 3 projects are among the nominees: Antoine Fuqua’s Michael, with cinematography by Dion Beebe and color by Senior Colorist Stefan Sonnenfeld; Kane Parsons’ Backrooms, featuring cinematography by Jeremy Cox and color grading by Senior Colorist Joseph Bicknell; and Curry Barker’s Obsession, with cinematography by Taylor Clemons and featuring color by Colorist Jake White.

The celebration extends beyond the nominations, with several special tributes recognizing filmmakers and creative teams behind Company 3 collaborations.

The cast and filmmakers of Michael will receive the Gotham Musical Tribute, recognizing the film’s cultural impact and box-office success.

Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle will receive the Gotham Director Tribute, recognizing his four-decade career and latest film, Ink, which opened this year’s Venice International Film Festival and features cinematography by Alwin Küchler and color grading by Senior Colorist Jean-Clément Soret.

LAIKA will receive the Gotham Anniversary Tribute, celebrating 20 years of filmmaking and the release of its latest stop-motion feature, Wildwood. Directed by Travis Knight, the film features cinematography by Caleb Deschanel, ASC, with color by Senior Colorist Stephen Nakamura.
